Holiday Let's Go to Parga!

In the southwestern part of the prefecture of Preveza

The beautiful seaside town of Parga is located in the northwestern part of the prefecture of Preveza. It is built amphitheatrically on the hillside of Pezavolos at an altitude of 139 m and goes all the way up to the Ionian coast.

The city retains its fortification while on its right side you can see the medieval castle of Parga with its buildings, which protected the southwest side of the city.

Some time ago, Parga was also known for the fine citrus produced in the surrounding area, the so-called "Jewish citrus", which was exported to Europe and America.

Now days Parga is the busiest tourist resort in the area. Opposite the city, is the picturesque island of Panagia on which one can see a church and medieval Venetian and French buildings.

Within the municipality of Parga there are several different beaches and bays, which some time ago served as anchor ports for shipa and helped the city to become a comercial center. Today they are making a significant contribution to the development of the city and the region as a tourist destination. Specifically, within the city of Parga you can find Kryoneri which is facing Panagias Island.

At the center, opposite the beach, dominates a small tall rocky island that the locals call Skorda. Right next and to the east is Piso Kryoneri, a small beach, which is also within the settlement of Parga, surrounded by high rocks. To the west of Parga lies the best known beach of the area, Valtos.

You should visit the historical Venetian castle of the city - the small island with the church of Panagia - the ecclesiastical museum - the city center - the church of Agios Nikolaos, the patron saint of Parga - the Monastery of Aghia Vlacherna - the chapel of Agios Sostis under the rock which lies in a unique landscape, overlooking the homonymous beach - the picturesque paved streets of the city - the "Ali Pasha" castle in Anthousa and the tens of churches within the city.
