The image of an island in Parga

One need not take a boat to reach Parga - even if the first sighting of the town makes one mistaken it for an island, as visitors spot their destination from the deck and prepare to disembark at the harbour. Located halfway between Preveza and Igoumenitsa, in Northwestern Greece, Parga is one of the most popular summer resorts on this side of the country. This seaside town, is amphitheatrically built from the shores of the Ionian Sea, reaching 140 metres into the mountains of Epirus. Parga's combination of pastel-coloured homes, picturesque alleys and backstreets, as well as its almost noble ambience, overlooking the Isle of the Virgin Mary and "guarded" - still - by the imposing Venetian Castle, make it a beloved choice for visitors and guests. Small, secluded beaches, natural bays with turquoise waters, with silky sand or stones, reflecting the deep blue sky and the rolling green hills, create the illusion of a postcard coming to life, inviting everyone to come and explore a different side of the wild, but always exciting and diverse, Epirus.
